The San Francisco Bay Area is a complicated medley of urban and untouched spaces. In an hour, from the heart of the city, you can reach wilderness - caveat being that the landmarks you left behind might still be visible in the distance.

Here, a low fog clings to the bay, easing the transition from the raw bluffs of the Marin Headlands to the criss-crossed steel base of the Golden Gate Bridge’s north tower.

Part of the Bridge Tableaux series.
